NEET-UG 2024 Counselling Update: NTA’s July 6 Start Notification, MCC Notification Pending

  • The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting exams like MBBS and BDS admissions, has faced scrutiny due to alleged question paper leaks during the May 5 exam.
  • The results, initially expected by June 14, were announced on June 4, possibly due to accelerated evaluation of answer sheets. Notably, 67 students achieved a perfect score of 720, including six from Faridabad, Haryana, raising concerns about irregularities.
  • Following allegations, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation, resulting in the arrest of Aman Singh and five others implicated in the paper leak.
  • Recently, the Union government opposed the re-conduct of NEET-UG 2024 in a Supreme Court affidavit, citing minimal evidence of widespread malpractice.
  • NTA also defended its stance, emphasizing minimal instances of malpractice, urging against exam cancellation to protect deserving students’ academic futures
